The International Management Division will hold a Junior Faculty Consortium on Saturday, August 8th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., during the pre-conference period of the 2009 Academy of Management annual meetings in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

In addition, we will also consider for participation graduating doctoral students who have accepted a facultyl position by April 15th, 2009. The consortium will provide an opportunity faculty early in their careers to engage in structured discussion and informal interaction with a broad-based panel of senior faculty from around the world on research, teaching, and career development. It is an excellent forum for exchanging ideas and tips about research and teaching, and career planning and developmen, as well as for expanding one’s academic network. During lunch time, Susan Madsen and Jim Davis will facilitate an engaging workshop on scholarly ethics within the Academy, focusing on such topics as ethics in publishing, faculty ethics, dilemmas facing doctoral students, and so on. In addition to presentations by the faculty panel, one concurrent session after lunch will be devoted to roundtable dsicussions. These roundtable discussions will focus on paper development where junior faculty will have the opportunity to present and discuss their papers or research proposals in small groups. There will also be a joint session later in the afternoon with the Junior Faculty Consortium attendees where participants will meet the editors of leading journals in international management.
